Yes and notes on contradictions and multidimensionality

I see everything as multilayered and multifaceted.

My experience has been that reality is multidimensional. Each thing or event has a multitude of causes, referring to a multitude of layers of reality. Or, rather, one and the same cause has various effects according to the layer within which it manifests.

Even though they reflect or refer to the same thing, these layers might contradict each other. As a matter of fact, when it comes to fundamental subjects and questions, what I found is that I can only answer with both yes and no, since linear logic cannot contain or express the complexity of reality.

Everything is based on polarities and every thing has polarities – thus such-called contradictory statements about it can be simultaneously true. The implications of this are both terrifying and sublime.

The fact that these words sound stupid doesn’t make them less true: everything is and isn’t at the same time.

Shiva as the ultimate mysterium coniunctionis:

[Shiva] is the most beautiful, he is the ugliest, he is a great ascetic, he is a family person, he’s the most disciplined, he’s a drunkard, he’s a dancer, he’s absolutely still. Gods worship him, demons worship him, all kinds of creatures in the world worship him. Whatever we say about Shiva, you must understand, the very opposite is also the truth. He is the Bhairava, the most fearsome, one who is of quick temper and immense violence. He is also the most compassionate, the Sundaramoorthy. A seducer, a gallant lover, and a compassionate, handsome, and romantic being. He is also the Thandavamoorthy, one whose dance would destroy the very process of Creation. At the same time he is Achaleshwar, absolute stillness, one who does not know any movement.

Shiva is a yogi who should not be named. To name is to limit and curtail. At the same time, the many many names of his, the sum total of these names is an absolute representation of the whole universe, all its complexities; the representation of unfathomable mysteries of the existence.” (Sadhguru, here)
